ICELAND 2014

october 2014

In a land of sharp contrasts, you'd be hard pressed to be bored in Iceland. From glacial lakes of ice to steaming geysers, there's so much to see in this country. Reykjavik is the gateway to all that natural wonder, and staying at an airbnb there, we enjoyed the Scandinavian vibe of the city. Venturing into the wilderness, we rented a car to tour the "Golden Circle", which consists of Pingvellier National Park, Haukadalur geysers, and Gullfoss. Though they were cool, they weren't as cool as when we drove east to hike at Vatnajokull National Park. After snowmobiling on it's ice cap, we stopped by Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon and hiked to a glacier. Later, we went to Vik and visited Reynisfjara, the black sand beach, and ate bowls of fresh langostines in Hofn. Though in the end we didn't catch a glimpse of the elusive aurora borealis, we loved Iceland and want to explore more.
