My introduction to South Africa began with an early morning hike up Table Mountain in the sunny city of Cape Town. With gorgeous weather and mild temperatures, I felt like I was in California. And you'd be forgiven if you sometimes forgot you were in Africa, where many pictures depict jungle scenes or vast arid plains. But then again, where in California can you hop in a car and search for white rhinos? I had never been on safari before and Kruger National Park offers people the chance for a DIY safari. So we rented a car and cruised through the massive park, eventually spotting the famous "Big Five": Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion, and Leopard, as well as the lesser known "Little Five"... Some highlights: watching lions cuddle and driving away (fast) from a charging elephant.
