I didn't know I would like Germany so much but it's now become one of my favorite countries to visit. I started in Berlin, a really cool city that has moved up on my short list of "European cities I wouldn't mind living in." Besides the great infrastructure and plentiful parks, Berlin has amazing breakfast buffets. We took the Deutsche Bahn down to Bavaria, in time to catch the waning days of Oktoberfest and savor the local delicacy of pork shank. Visiting Neuschwanstein Castle (the original inspiration for the Disney castle), we got to hike around the Bavarian hills. We also got a taste of medieval life at the quaint walled city of Rotenburg ob der Tauber, home of the infamous nightwatchman.
